He moved to Scotland in 1992 where he spent three years as a mature student and earned his first degree. Then he adopted London as his home in 1995, although interrupting that with some time living in Brussels and in Geneva. Clearly he likes to travel!
Scott met his future wife at Kings’ College London and coincidentally found himself doing his teacher training and earning his second degree at Kings’. He taught Information & Communication Technology and Computer Science at a number of London schools. Going further back to 1984, Scott once worked as a motorcycle courier in London. He lasted five days and quit on the Friday!
Having lived in various parts of Zone 1 and Zone 2, the entire breadth of central London is Scott’s home turf. He walks, he cycles, he runs, he drives, and he uses public transport a lot. There was a time when he lived in Chelsea and worked in Wapping, and he did the 8 kilometre commute by every method possible, walking, cycling, running, driving, bussing and tubing it!
By crossing over to the South Bank, Scott established a 10k running route which would take him from home to work via Lambeth and Southwark Bridges. He claimed that one day he was going to swim from Chelsea Pier to St Katherine Docks, but never actually did it! Being a qualified lifeguard, he clearly decided that venturing into the Thames was not a good idea.
Now in his sixties, you can regularly see Scott doing his early morning 10k routes and half marathon routes along the Thames Path. His territory stretches from Tower Bridge to Battersea Bridge, and sometimes beyond.
